Worked example

Sale
$46.00
Fees
$1.97
You keep
$44.03

The buyer pays $40 for the item plus $6 shipping, $46 in total. Depop's selling fee for US sellers is 0%. Payment processing is 3.3% of $46 = $1.52 plus $0.45 = $1.97. You receive $46.00 − $1.97 = $44.03. After the $12 item cost and the $6 label, profit is $26.03. The buyer's marketplace fee (up to $3.00 here) is paid on top by the buyer and does not change your payout.

How Depop fees work

Depop is a resale app for secondhand and vintage fashion, streetwear, and handmade pieces, with a young, style-driven buyer base. Sellers range from teenagers clearing closets to full-time vintage dealers running shops with thousands of listings.

Since July 15, 2024, Depop charges US sellers no selling fee. The only standard deduction is payment processing through Depop Payments (run on Stripe): 3.3% plus $0.45 per sale, calculated on the item price plus shipping and any sales tax the buyer paid. On a $40 item with $6 shipping that is $1.97, so you keep $44.03 of the $46 the buyer paid for the item and shipping.

Buyers pay their own marketplace fee at checkout, up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1. It is added on top of your price and does not come out of your payout, but it does raise what buyers see, which is worth remembering when you price.

The one optional seller fee is Boosted Listings: 12% of the sale price for listings created from March 23, 2026, charged only if the boosted listing sells. Sellers outside the US and UK still pay a 10% selling fee, so guides written for other countries will overstate US costs.

Good to know

Depop's help page states the boosted-listing fee as 12% for new listings from March 23, 2026; listings boosted before that date may still be charged at the previous rate (8%), which the page also shows for non-US/UK sellers. The buyer marketplace fee is stated as 'up to' 5% + $1; this calculator shows the maximum. The calculator applies the 12% boost fee to the item price only; add shipping to the item price if you ship without a Depop label and want the exact boosted amount. Payout timing was not verified on an official page for this update. Sales tax is collected and remitted by Depop under marketplace facilitator rules; enter it only if you want the processing fee on tax included.
