Worked example
A designer bag sells for $250, which is inside the $83 to $16,667 band, so the selling fee is 12% of $250 = $30.00. Payment processing is 3% of $250 = $7.50, above the $3 minimum. Fees total $37.50 and the payout is $250.00 − $37.50 = $212.50. After the $120 the seller paid for the bag, profit is $92.50. The buyer pays shipping and any duties or tax separately.
How Vestiaire Collective fees work
Vestiaire Collective is a global resale marketplace for pre-owned luxury and designer fashion: handbags, shoes, ready-to-wear, jewelry, and watches. Items are listed by individual sellers, and most go through Vestiaire's authentication and quality control before reaching the buyer. US sellers list in dollars and are paid in dollars.
Listing is free. When an item sells, two fees come off the final price. The selling fee is 12% for items priced between $83 and $16,667. Below $83 it is a flat $10, and above $16,667 it is a flat $2,000, so the percentage never quite exceeds 12% at either end. This schedule applies to items listed from July 18, 2025; items listed between October 21, 2024 and July 17, 2025 were charged 10% between $100 and $20,000 with the same $10 and $2,000 caps.
The second fee is payment processing at 3% of the sale price with a $3 minimum, which means every sale under $100 pays the full $3. The minimum listing price is $18, and at that price the two fees take $13 of the $18.
On a $250 bag, fees are $30.00 plus $7.50, and you receive $212.50. Buyers pay shipping and any duties or taxes on top of your price, so those never reduce your payout.
- Selling fee, $83 to $16,667: 12% of the final sale price. On a $250 sale that is $30.00; on a $1,000 sale it is $120.00.
- Selling fee under $83: a fixed $10. A $50 sale therefore pays 20% in selling fee alone, which is why the $18 minimum listing price leaves so little.
- Selling fee over $16,667: a fixed $2,000. Above that price the effective rate drops below 12%.
- Payment processing: 3% of the sale price with a $3 minimum, charged on every sale. Under $100 the fee is $3 regardless of price.
- Both fees are deducted from the final sale price, so an accepted offer lowers the fee base. Shipping and any buyer-side fees or duties are paid by the buyer and are not part of your fee base.
- Fees are fixed at the time an item is listed: the July 18, 2025 schedule applies to items listed on or after that date; older listings keep the schedule that applied when they were listed.
Ways to keep more of each Vestiaire Collective sale
- Stay at or above $83. An $80 sale pays the $10 flat fee (12.5%) plus $3 processing; at $83 the selling fee is $9.96, and the percentage only falls from there.
- Small items are punished twice. Under $100 you pay the $3 processing minimum, and under $83 the $10 flat selling fee; a $40 accessory nets just $27.
- Build 15% into your list price. To clear $50 profit on a $120 item you need to sell at $200 or more (15% of $200 is $30).
- Accept offers with the fee math in mind: a $20 price cut on a $250 bag costs you $17 in payout, not $20, because the 12% and 3% shrink too.
- Keep listings updated rather than relisting old ones if you are on a better historical schedule; fees are set by the listing date.
