Reverb Fee Calculator (2026)
Reverb takes a 5% selling fee on the total sale including shipping (minimum $0.50, capped at $500) plus a Reverb Payments processing fee of 3.19% + $0.49 on the full order amount. Listing is free; Bump ads and a 1% cross-border fee are optional extras.
Enter your numbers above; results update as you type. Sales tax collected from the buyer is not included unless the platform charges a fee on it and the calculator has a tax field.
Reverb fees at a glance
| Fee | Rate | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Selling fee | 5%, min $0.50, max $500.00 | sale price + shipping charged. 5% of the total sale amount including shipping. Minimum $0.50; the fee stops growing at $500 (a $10,000 sale). |
| Reverb Payments processing fee | 3.19% + $0.49 | sale price + shipping charged. 3.19% + $0.49 on the full order amount including shipping. Reverb also applies it to sales tax collected, which this calculator does not include. |
| Bump fee | your chosen Bump rate (%) | sale price + shipping charged; when Bump rate (%) > 0. The Bump percentage you chose, applied to the product amount plus shipping (tax excluded), only if the Bumped listing sells. |
| Cross-border fee | 1% | sale price + shipping charged; only when “Buyer is in another country” is on. An extra 1% deducted from earnings when the buyer's billing address is in a different country. |
Worked example
A pedal sells for $120 with $12 shipping, a $132 total. Reverb's selling fee is 5% of $132 = $6.60. Reverb Payments takes 3.19% of $132 plus $0.49 = $4.70. No Bump, domestic buyer. Total fees are $11.30 and Reverb pays out $120.70. After the $70 you paid for the pedal and $10 to ship it, profit is $40.70.
How Reverb fees work
Reverb is the marketplace for musical instruments and gear: guitars, pedals, synths, amps, drums, DJ and pro audio equipment, new and used. Sellers range from individual players clearing out a pedalboard to boutique builders and full-time music stores. Listing is free, and Reverb's fees are lower than eBay's for the same gear, which is why most used-instrument sales happen here.
Two fees come out of every sale. The selling fee is 5% of the total sale amount including shipping, with a $0.50 minimum and a $500 cap. The Reverb Payments processing fee is 3.19% + $0.49 on the full order amount, including shipping and any sales tax collected. Together that is 8.19% + $0.49, so Reverb's own math says you keep about 91.8% of the selling price on a typical domestic sale.
Optional costs are the only other variables. Bump is Reverb's pay-per-sale advertising: you choose a percentage, and it is charged on the product amount plus shipping only if the Bumped listing sells. Selling to a buyer in another country adds a 1% cross-border fee, and listing in a currency other than your payout currency adds 2.5% for conversion. Since May 13, 2026 all of these fees, including those on PayPal payouts, are deducted directly from the payout instead of appearing on a month-end statement.
- Selling fee: 5% of the total sale amount, including shipping, for every item sold. The minimum fee is $0.50 and the maximum is $500, which you reach on a $10,000 sale; above that the fee stays at $500.
- Reverb Payments processing fee: 3.19% + $0.49 per order for US sellers, deducted from earnings. It is charged on the item's total sale price including shipping and any applicable sales tax, whatever payment method the buyer used.
- Listing fees: none. Creating a listing, editing it or removing it before it sells is free.
- Bump fee (optional): a percentage you select on the listing, calculated on the product amount plus shipping (tax not included). You are only charged if the Bumped listing sells, and offers on a Bumped listing are billed at the Bump rate in effect when the offer was made.
- Cross-border fee: an extra 1% deducted from your earnings when the buyer's billing address is in a different country. A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies on top if you list in a currency other than your payout currency.
- When fees are taken: all fees are deducted directly from the payout. Reverb starts your first payout once delivery is confirmed; after that it initiates payouts as soon as a valid tracking number shows the gear is in transit.
Ways to keep more of each Reverb sale
- Both fees apply to shipping, so a $30 shipping line costs you about $2.46 in fees. Quote accurate shipping rather than padding it.
- The selling fee caps at $500 on sales of $10,000 or more, but the 3.19% processing fee does not. On a $15,000 vintage guitar you pay $500 + $478.99 + $0.49, about 6.5% all in.
- Bump only when a listing has stalled. A 2% Bump on a $500 amp adds $10 to your fees; test a lower price drop first, since offers on Bumped listings lock in the Bump rate.
- Domestic sales avoid the 1% cross-border fee and the 2.5% conversion fee. If you accept international offers, price them 1% higher to stay even.
- The $0.49 fixed fee makes cheap accessories expensive to sell: a $10 cable pays $1.31, about 13%. Bundle small items with a larger sale.
Reverb fee FAQ
Does Reverb charge fees on shipping?
Yes. Both the 5% selling fee and the 3.19% + $0.49 processing fee are calculated on the total sale amount including shipping. The processing fee is also applied to sales tax collected from the buyer.
When does Reverb take its fees?
At payout. The selling fee, processing fee, and any Bump or cross-border fee are deducted directly from your earnings before Reverb pays you. Since May 13, 2026 this applies to PayPal payouts as well, so there is no month-end bill unless a fee could not be deducted.
Is there a fee to list on Reverb?
No. Listing is free, and so is editing or ending a listing that has not sold. You pay only when something sells.
When does Reverb pay out?
For your first sale, Reverb initiates the payout once the item is confirmed delivered. For later sales it initiates the payout as soon as a valid tracking number shows the item is in transit, then the bank transfer takes a few business days.
What is the maximum Reverb selling fee?
$500. The 5% selling fee stops growing once the sale reaches $10,000, so a $20,000 sale still pays a $500 selling fee. The minimum selling fee is $0.50. The processing fee has no cap.
Does Reverb charge more for international sales?
Yes. A 1% cross-border fee is deducted when the buyer's billing address is in another country, and a 2.5% currency conversion fee applies if you list in a currency other than your payout currency.
Does Reverb send a 1099-K?
Reverb Payments reports your gross sales to the IRS on Form 1099-K if you meet the federal or your state's reporting threshold. Gross sales are before fees, so keep your fee records for deductions.
