Worked example
This is Indiegogo's own example. A campaign that collects $10,000 from 100 contributions pays the 5% platform fee, $500.00, plus payment processing of 3% of $10,000 ($300.00) and $0.20 on each of the 100 transactions ($20.00), so $320.00. Total fees are $820.00 and the payout to the campaigner's bank account is $9,180.00, before the cost of making and shipping perks.
How Indiegogo fees work
Indiegogo is the second major rewards crowdfunding platform in the United States, with a long history in consumer hardware and gadgets. On October 16, 2025 it migrated to a new platform built on Gamefound technology, and several rules changed with it: flexible "keep what you raise" funding is no longer available for new campaigns, end dates cannot be changed once a campaign is live, and the post-campaign phase formerly called InDemand is now called Late Pledge.
The fees were simplified at the same time. Indiegogo charges a flat 5% platform fee on the collected amount, plus a payment processing fee of 3% plus $0.20 per transaction. Indiegogo's own example: a campaign that raises $10,000 across 100 transactions pays $500 in platform fee and $320 in processing, and $9,180 lands in the bank account. If the campaign does not reach its goal, you pay nothing, including payment processing fees.
The pledge manager, which collects add-ons, shipping and late pledges after the campaign, costs nothing to use; Indiegogo takes the same 5% of each successfully collected payment plus 3% + $0.20 per transaction. Campaigns launched after the upgrade are paid out through Adyen, while campaigns that were live before October 16, 2025 stay on Stripe.

- Plan on about 8%–9% in fees at typical perk prices. Add-ons collected later through the pledge manager cost the same 8% + $0.20 per transaction.
- Because new campaigns are fixed funding, set a goal you will clear; a campaign that misses pays nothing but also collects nothing.
- Consolidate shipping and add-ons into a backer's single pledge-manager checkout where possible, since every transaction costs $0.20.
- Price perks so the 5% + 3% + $0.20 and shipping still leave your margin; the calculator's "amount you need to keep" field works backward from your required net.
- Remember the end date is locked once you launch on the new platform, so build your fulfillment costs and fee math before going live.
